Eli's Beech Room

This is Eli's beech room.  His desk is an antique.  The bed and armoire I made there are separate blogs for the bed and armoire.  Eli's nursery was always a beech theme.  We just added a desk to replace his changing table and his big boy day bed.  The bed is made from a door and I love how its so low to the ground.  I left his nursery bedding on display for now.  His bed quilt is pottery barn.

DIY headboard

My daughter's headboard was my first. I would use a French cleat to mount now.  I also used an old comforter in lieu of batting. It is visible at the bottom but not when behind the mattress.  I attached the legs and drilled for button holes.   Then I stapled two inch foama, then the comforter, and finally the upholstery- in this case a curtain.  Lastly I used button kits to make matching buttons.  I threaded them through with a long needle and used washers to secure. Voila!

Refurbished antique chandelier

This was a chandelier my late mom gave to my sister. There was a pair of them and she gave one to me.  I removed all the crystals and spray painted the brass in oil rubbed bronze.  I ordered new silver prism pins and sprayed those as well.  Finally I repinned and reassembled the chandelier. This was a time consuming and tedious project but I love it in the kitchen!

Kid kitchen DIY

I love this kitchen. I made this play kitchen for my 4 year old daughter.  The refrigerator I got from a garage sale.  The tv stand was from a garage sale as well.  I used a jig saw to cut the circle for the sink (a bowl) and a cheap faucet. The knobs are from hobby lobby.  I painted the burners with chalk paint then put a cup on them and sprayed silver.  The curtain was hand sewn.  For the stove I just removed the knob and attached a handle at top.  I painted the door of the stove with chalk paint as well.  Most of  the accessories are from good will or thrift stores. The aprons are hand made as well. Turned out super cute I hope she gives it to her daughter one day!

Cheap play room decor

Most of our play room decor is functional or things we repurposed.  We used old nursery pics, handprint plates, the kids toy bags on hooks, hand print and footprint canvases, and my favorite, the ikea clothes line with the kids' artwork!  All simple and very inexpensive!

DIY child workbench

Made this for my 2 year old son from an old nightstand.  Added cork on top and peg board. Very simple and inexpensive!

Dining room turned playroom

With 3 small children who needs a dining room?  With French doors separating the room from the living room and the kitchen it is a perfect play room. When it's a mess I just shut the doors!  The cube  shelving I  got at ikea on clearance ( assembled which is key).  The rest is just toys. I will post play room  wall decor in a separate blog post :).
